Mosquito Control Notice 2024

A Health-related community mosquito control program will begin on April 29, 2024 in the Town of Londonderry. Larval mosquitoes will be controlled in areas such as marshes, red maple swamps, woodland pools, flooded fields, roadside ditches, flooded stormwater basins and other shallow, stagnant bodies of water.  Mosquito larvae found in street and parking lot catch basins will also be controlled. Areas with flowing waters (streams, rivers) or deep waters (ponds, lakes) typically do not support mosquito breeding and will not be treated. With the advent of Zika Virus, mosquito populations will be monitored for associated vector mosquitoes.

The primary control agents will be bacterium larvacides called Vectobac (BTI) and Vectolex (Bs).  Applications to control mosquito larvae will continue as needed until December 15, 2024.  Control Agents will only be applied where larvae of disease vector species are collected.

Town officials may decide to complete emergency barrier insecticide (bifenthrin) applications to parks, athletic fields, schools, and other public areas should a public health emergency dictate.

Persons not wishing their properties treated should contact Municipal Pest Management Services (in writing) and can be contacted directly @ 21 River Road, Newington, NH 03801.  Otherwise, properties may be treated as necessary.  Information on biological control agents, insecticides, areas likely to be sprayed or any potential hazards is available upon request to Municipal Pest Management Services, Inc. @ 603-431-0008 or @ swampfixer@swamp-inc.com.
